r*b86jeep said: Im still working on putting a wide glide front end on my 81 fxs. I found out i have 84-99 fxst lower legs (thanks to hawg), but i think my upper and lower tree's have a different rake from each other. Here's some pics of the tree's, there's 2 lowers and 3 uppers. http://i910.photobucket.com/albums/ac306/rob86jeep/spare%20harley%20parts/P1000093.jpg http://i910.photobucket.com/albums/ac306/rob86jeep/spare%20harley%20parts/P1000094.jpg http://i910.photobucket.com/albums/ac306/rob86jeep/spare%20harley%20parts/P1000095.jpg
Mr. R*wdy said: I can't see the pics but I can tell you that I have a set of older trees that looked like they had negative rake on them. I got my hands on a 90's WG front end and by doing nuthin more than swapping trees I lengthened the bike by 2 inches.
r*b86jeep said: i was trying to use the lower tree (upper left in pic) but the tubes wouldnt line up with any of the uppers. So i measured the bottom of the tubes with both lower tree's in seperately and the tubes were 1 inch closer to the frame with on of the lower tree's. so im guessing its not raked as much as the other one. Not sure if all that made sense, i have a hard time putting it in words.
Mr. R*wdy said: I'm following ya. The rake is in the stem. You can't mix and match because of the different rake.
r*b86jeep said: k, thats what i thought. Now i just need to find out which ones match, so i can use that set, hopefully someone will be able to tell me. I cant wait till im done with this, i have a lot of extra harley parts but dont want to get rid of anything untill i have my bike set up the way i want so i know i wont need any of it.
r*b86jeep said: So I decided to use the upper and lower on the right side of the pic, they seem to match up fine with each other. I would still like to know what rake they have though, so if anybody knows, please pass on that info. And for the other ones i would like to know what they are from so i can list them correctly when i sell them. thanks, Rob
gr*mpyccnw said: well it would most likely be stock hd rake....depending on the model and year of the frame it could vary from 34 to 36 degrees normally.....as for the other lower tree being raked i very highly doubt that .....it looks like a stock lower tree with the neck lock tab on it and most likely the stem is bent....either replace the stem or toss it....good luck...
